Trick to quickly view recently viewed, modified or shared photos

The Photos application for iPhone, iPad and Mac has been updated since iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Not only does it have a new interface on the iPhone and iPad, some useful components have also been added. This way you can quickly view your recently viewed, modified or shared photos.

The trick concerns the pre-programmed categories in the Photos application. With one tap or click you can consult all recent items, so you can immediately find the one photo that you have recently edited or shared.

View recent photos

Using the step-by-step plan below, you can quickly and easily view recently saved, viewed, changed or shared photos and videos in the Photos app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Please note that iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia or newer must be installed to view the items.

  • Open Photos for iPhone or iPad
  • Scroll down to ‘Other’
  • Select a desired Recent item

On a Mac, you can open the Other category in the sidebar and choose a Recents item.

Trick to quickly view recently viewed, modified or shared photos
  • Recently saved: Overview of all the photos and videos you’ve recently saved to your photo library.
  • Recently viewed: Overview of all the photos and videos you’ve recently opened in your photo library.
  • Recently changed: Overview of all the photos and videos you’ve recently edited in your photo library.
  • Recently shared: Overview of all the photos and videos you’ve recently shared in your photo library.

Thanks to the above shortcuts, you can immediately consult photos and videos that you have recently used, making it even easier to find the right items in your photo library.
