Powerful update for the iPad mini 7th generation

The iPad mini is a compact tablet with an 8.3-inch screen, powerful performance and support for the Apple Pencil. It’s the ultimate portable companion for enjoying multimedia, productivity and creativity on the go.

The 6th generation was launched in the fall of 2021 and had a completely redesigned design similar to the iPad Pro. Three years later, Apple announces a new generation, with a powerful A17 Pro processor for Apple Intelligence.

Apple has provided the smallest iPad with a new generation. Those who had hoped for spectacular improvements will unfortunately be disappointed. For example, the design of the iPad mini 7th generation has remained the same and Apple has made limited changes to the colors.

Powerful update for the iPad mini 7th generation

The design of the iPad mini has changed dramatically in 2021 and is similar to current iPad models. This means sleeker bezels, no unnecessary buttons and straight sides. The screen edge is also thinner and the same everywhere.

Liquid Retina display

The retina screen of the previous generation iPad mini suffered from the so-called ‘Jelly Scrolling’ problem. This is an issue seen in some smartphones and tablets where the screen appears to waver or shake when scrolling due to asynchronous updates of the pixels, creating an unpleasant visual experience.

Apple says this is normal behavior for LCD screens, but Apple has improved this for the 7th generation. The display technology and refresh rate is better matched to the processing speed of the iPad.

Powerful chip

The previous generation iPad mini used the Apple A15 Bionic chip with a 6-core CPU. This powerful processor ensures fast and smooth performance, allowing you to multitask, play games and use apps effortlessly. The iPad mini 7th generation goes a step further and uses the A17 Pro chip.

The sky-high performance is thanks to the 6-core CPU with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, 5-core graphics and 16-core Neural Engine. This not only makes the mini faster, but it can also perform more complex tasks, including Apple Intelligence.

Support for Apple Pencil Pro

The most used accessory for iPad is undoubtedly the Apple Pencil, and the Pro version has been available since this spring. This has find my support just like the Apple TV Remote. If you no longer know where the Pencil has gone, you can find it via the Find My app.

The Apple Pencil Pro has sensors that register that you squeeze the Pencil. You will then see a new palette, so you can quickly change tools, line thickness or color. By adding a motion sensor, you can work very precisely with various pens and brushes with a simple rotation of the Apple Pencil Pro. A Taptic Engine has also been added so that the Pencil provides haptic feedback. When you squeeze or tap twice, you will feel a small tap to confirm.
