Since watchOS 11, you can quickly open the notification overview on an Apple Watch when a watch face is active in a new way. In a similar way it was already possible to open the control panel.
Apple has changed the interface of the smart watch since the introduction of watchOS 10. Schematically, you can read the interface from top to bottom as follows: notification overview â–¸ watch face â–¸ smart stack â–¸ apps. With a clever trick you can easily display parts from the watch face.
Quickly open notification overview
Apple uses various options for the Apple Watch to activate or display various components on the screen. For example, you can open the widgets or the message center with swipe gestures, but from watchOS 11 you can also do this with the Digital Crown. You can use the options below when the watch face is active.
- Turn the Digital Crown down to show the notification center
- Turn the Digital Crown upwards to show the smart stack of widgets
- Press the side button to open the control panel
Would you rather take actions directly from the screen? Then you can also swipe down to open the notification center and swipe up for the widgets.
Open from apps
Do you have an application active? Then you can also quickly open the notification overview with the help of a trick. Place your finger on the top of the screen (don’t press) and wait until part of the center becomes visible. Then swipe down to open Notification Center.
