iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 include several major changes, new features and capabilities. This includes the brand new control panel, personalize home screen, new Photos app, extensions for calculator, passwords application and much more. In addition, iOS 18 also contains a lot of small changes that benefit daily use.
This includes reminders in Calendar, new iCloud overview, changing Siri’s name, silent mode for CarPlay and more. Below you’ll find the first part of even more minor changes in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
iPhone always shows the time
Since iOS 18, the iPhone 15 or newer can always show the time, even when the iPhone’s battery is empty. This is an addition to existing functions, so it was already possible to always find out the location of your iPhone, even when the battery is (almost) empty. The device will then be switched off, but will still show a number of things on the screen until the battery is completely empty. You can see an example on the
iCloud page updated
In iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, Apple has provided the iCloud part of the Apple Account with a new look. In addition to the new design, data about iCloud storage usage is also displayed more clearly and concisely.
This makes it even easier to check how much storage space you use in iCloud and which apps are responsible for this. In addition, you can immediately check how many items are present in different apps such as Photos, Files, Passwords and more. You can see and read exactly how the new interface works in the featured article below.
T9 support for Phone
T9 (Text on 9 keys) is a predictive text system originally used on mobile phones with physical keyboards. From now on you will also find this method of input in the telephone app.
After opening the keys, you can use the numbers to enter corresponding letters. The Phone app can then search your contact list based on the input. It works like this. For example, if you are looking for someone named Richard, you simply enter 7424273, because the R is with 7, the I is with 4 and the C is with 2, etc. Based on this combination, the phone searches your list for contacts where the letters appear. There is no need to enter the number keys multiple times to select letters.

Adaptive copy photo edits
Editing photos has always been possible, but if you applied an edit to one photo or video you had to do it all over again on the next one. Since iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, you can copy and paste photo edits to other components. With the recent software updates, Apple has expanded this feature. From now on you can also copy and paste edits adaptively. This allows the software to take the exposure and white balance of the next photo into account. You can read exactly how that works in the article below.
