Fix when you can’t open Control Center from apps

We are regularly asked why the control panel cannot be opened from an app or the lock screen. However, that is an incorrect thought, it is indeed possible, but is stopped by an option. Fortunately, you can easily adjust this and remove the blockage.

Open control panel from apps

  • Open ‘Settings’
  • Navigate to ‘Control Panel’
  • Enable the ‘Access from apps’ option

Open Control Center from Lock screen

  • Open ‘Settings’
  • Navigate to ‘Touch ID/Face ID and passcode’
  • Scroll to ‘Access when locked’
  • Enable the ‘Control Panel’ option

From then on, you can open Control Center again from the Lock screen and from apps. Of course, you can also disable the options if you prefer that the control panel cannot be opened from the lock screen or from apps. In some cases that is a smart choice.

Restrict against abuse

Before you fully allow the control panel on the lock screen, it is good to realize that this can also be abused. Using Find My iPhone it is possible to look up the location of your iPhone if, for example, it has been lost or stolen. It is important that the iPhone remains connected to the internet.

It is possible to directly switch off Bluetooth, WiFi and network facilities via the control panel, also from the lock screen. Not really useful if your iPhone is stolen.
