From iOS 18, iPados, TVOS 18 and macOS Sequoia you can use in the picture, Insight in English. While playing an Apple TV+ film or series, you can get extra information about the actors, director, crew and music that is being played.
The background information appears on the screen in real time so that you can immediately make the link between the characters on the screen and the music that sounds. The Insight function is available in the standard TV app for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac.
Insight for Apple TV+
The Apple TV app is being expanded in TVOS 18 with Insight, a function with which information about actors, characters and music from films and series appears on Apple TV+ in real time. This allows you to view extra information about an actor, background information and see in which productions this person still measures.

With Insight you can also see which music number is played in a certain scene and you can add it to a playlist in Apple Music. If you use your iPhone as a remote control for Apple TV, you can also view the Insight information on it.
Availability Insight
The new Insight function is only available for Apple TV+ productions and can be consulted on an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac with iOS 18, iPados 18, TVOS 18, MacOS Sequoia or newer. Of course you can only view this in the standard Apple TV app.
It is good to know that you cannot use the function in rental or purchase films or in other streaming services such as Netflix, Viaplay or HBO Max. Apple’s Insight function also resembles X-ray option of Amazon Prime Video, which also shows information while playing a video.
Activate Insight on an Apple TV
- Play a movie or series on your Apple TV
- Tap the selection button of the Apple TV remote control
- The video player becomes active
- Select the ‘Insight’ button

Immediately the function becomes active and you will see information about the actors. If a music number is played, you can immediately see which song this is and through this too selecter you can add the song to your Apple Music Library.
iPhone as Apple TV Remote
If you use your iPhone as a remote control for Apple TV, you can also view the Insight information on it. Activate the screen of your iPhone and immediately see the information during playback, without being disturbed in the image of your TV screen.

Insight for iPhone, iPad and Mac
Just like on an Apple TV, you can also use the new Insight function on an iPhone, iPad or Mac. Activating the information screen works in a similar way. Play an Apple TV+ film or series and activate the video player by tapping the screen or clicking on the video with your mouse pointer. Select ‘Insight’ to consult the information.
