In iOS 26, Macos Tahoe and iPados 26, the notes app has received a number of important improvements and new functions that make it more versatile. You can also use the notes app for the first time on the Apple Watch.
The most important addition is the support for Markdown import and export and 3D graphics for mathematical notes. In addition, the memorandum application naturally also uses the new Liquid Glass design.
Renewed button bar with more options
The new design extends the Liquid Glass design to the notes app, with transparent buttons, renewed icons and flowing animations. The search field has been moved down for faster access and Apple has also adjusted the button bar for iPhone and iPad with more options.
You can now wipe the button bar in the notes app to view all available tools. Previously you had to tap a part to gain access to the various functions. Although you can now quickly browse through the tools with a sweeping movement, you can still tap to open specific submenus – such as for formatting, adding images, lists, tables and more.
The New reed pin Built -in options for traditional calligraphy uses in the palette. You can use this with Apple Pencil or your finger in apps such as notes, preview, Freeform and diary, if you use markings, and in other apps that support the Pencilkit-api.
Mathematical potition: 3D graphs
You can now make 3D graphics with comparisons with three variables, for example Z = Sin (X² + Y²). The rendering works directly in the mathematical potition of the notes app.
The use of this function can be done by typing a comparison and then selecting one of the variables. Then choose the 3D graph option. 3D graphics can be enlarged, changed in size and moved with tap and towing movements.
Markdown import and export
Notes can now be exported to a Markdown file (.md) Via the partial button. This is useful for web writers and developers. A Markdown file is a text file in which you write ordinary text that can easily be converted to HTML or other formatting sizes with a simple, clear drawing language.
Markdown is designed to remain legible in its unprocessed form, without difficult code or tags, which makes writing and editing easier than, for example, HTML. You do not type Markdown in the memorandum itself, but you can manage existing Markdown files.
Transcription of telephone calls
Not in Dutch
You can record telephone calls directly from the telephone app and save that recording (including automatic transcription) in notes. Ideal for interviews and important conversations. Because the telephone app is now also available on the iPad and Mac, you can also make transcripts of telephone calls on these devices using Apple Intelligence.
Notes for Apple Watch
From Watchos 26 you can use the notes app on an Apple Watch for the first time. The application is primarily intended to view your notes on the smart watch, but if desired you can also create new notes using Siri, the dictation function and the keyboard.
In this way you can also easily check checklists, attach and unlock notes. You cannot yet see attachments or text after making edit, but it is ideal for shopping lists and fast notes.
