The AAWireless TWO+ is a compact dongle that allows you to convert a car with wired Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto to fully wireless use via a USB port in the car. It is mainly intended for cars that have CarPlay/Android Auto via cable, but do not have the wireless variant.
Although more and more new cars are becoming available that support wireless CarPlay, there are of course still many vehicles on the road that do not offer this function. With the help of the AAWireless TWO+ you can make both CarPlay and Android auto wireless.
AAWireless TWO+
There are many different adapters available, often from China, that provide wireless CarPlay functionality. The AAWireless TWO+ on the other hand, it is a Dutch product and is produced in Europe. Unlike the cheap Chinese alternatives, you get a two-year warranty. A return period of 30 days and you can count on good support if necessary.
The AAWireless TWO+ is a fairly compact dongle measuring 5.5 × 3.5 × 1.5 cm and weighing only 18 grams. Due to its dimensions, it is certainly not the smallest adapter on the market. However, the adapter is neatly and firmly finished, with an LED ring and push button on the front.
Most wireless CarPlay adapters have a built-in web interface that allows you to change settings and update firmware. To do this, you need to navigate in Safari to a specific IP address, which can be found in the manual. With the AAWireless TWO+ you can use the AAWireless app for this, which is a lot more convenient. When you start the app, it immediately connects to the adapter.
Commissioning and installation
Follow the simple steps below to use wireless CarPlay via the TWO+ (AAW002) adapter. This is a one-time process. Once your iPhone is paired, it will connect automatically the next time.
Plug the USB-A side of the supplied cable into the USB port of the car that you normally use for Android Auto/CarPlay. Connect the USB-C side to the AAWireless TWO+ dongle. The light ring LED turns green and indicates that the device is starting up.
Connect via Bluetooth
After the TWO+ has started up completely, connect your iPhone with the adapter. To do this, open the Bluetooth settings and look for a new device called “AAWireless‑XXXX”.
Tap the device to pair and confirm the Bluetooth pairing prompt on your iPhone.
During this step, the dongle automatically sends the Wi-Fi data to your phone. After that, Bluetooth is no longer actively used for data, but Android Auto/CarPlay does need Bluetooth to function properly.
Now follow the message on your car’s infotainment screen. Accept the use of Android Auto or CarPlay and, if necessary, grant permission again on your iPhone.
After a successful connection, Android Auto or CarPlay will start wirelessly and you will see your apps appear on your car’s screen.
From now on, all you have to do next time is start the car. This gives the TWO+ adapter power and automatically connects to the last paired phone and starts Android Auto/CarPlay.
You can also use the adapter in combination with multiple devices. You can switch to another device by briefly pressing the button on the adapter. These devices must of course be connected to the TWO+ before you can use them.
When connecting the adapter to our KIA Sportage, CarPlay did not start. Mistake on our part as CarPlay was disabled in the settings. Once we activated CarPlay in the KIA settings, the adapter connected without any problems.
Setting via the AAwireless app
You don’t have to worry about connecting to an internal web interface to update the adapter or adjust settings. With the TWO+ adapter you can easily use the AAwireless app, which is available for both iOS and Android.
With the app you can, among other things, set the function of the push button and determine the order in which it connects to paired devices. You can also adjust the intensity of the LED lighting if you find it too bright.
A useful feature in the settings is the ability to disable the “video prompt”. In our KIA we are always asked whether we want to use CarPlay. By activating the “Automatic video focus” option in the app, CarPlay will be activated automatically without you having to confirm.
With the AAwireless app you can also check if a firmware update is available and install it.

The AAWireless TWO+ in practice
Connecting the TWO+ is easy and can be done by anyone. Once connected, CarPlay will appear on your car’s screen. Your iPhone automatically connects to your car and starts CarPlay, which is smooth and hassle-free.
The wireless version of CarPlay works in the same way as the USB cable version. All functions remain available and a dedicated button on the home screen allows you to exit CarPlay and return to your car’s standard system.
If you have paired multiple iPhones, you can determine the order in which they connect in the settings. For example, you can place the most important driver at the top, so that when this person gets in, his or her device is automatically tried to connect first. The great thing about this is that not all drivers need to own an iPhone. The connection can also be made with Android devices for Android Auto.

The AAWireless TWO+ ensures that both CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly, as promised. With the AAWireless app the adapter gets something extra, you don’t have to go to an internal website. You simply open the app to adjust various settings or perform a firmware update.
In the firmware changelog you can see that active work is being done to make the adapter compatible with all car brands and any problems are being resolved. Via the app you can also ask for help with any problems and receive useful tips for specific car models.
With a suggested retail price of €59.99, this is certainly not the cheapest wireless CarPlay adapter on the market. However, you are purchasing a product from Dutch soil, manufactured in Europe and with support and a two-year warranty. Something you can forget about the cheap Chinese variants.
