On an iPhone or iPad, you can quickly access widgets from the Lock screen by swiping from left to right. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy with this, because some widgets can also show ‘sensitive’ information or activate certain things; think of smart devices in your home.
However, it is good to know that the widgets can only be viewed. Whenever you tap an item in a widget, you’ll always be asked to unlock your iPhone or iPad. If you prefer not to have widgets on the lock screen, you can fortunately easily hide them.
Manage access to widgets on the Lock screen
• Open ‘Settings’
• Navigate to the ‘Face ID/Touch ID and passcode’ option
• Enter your access code
• Disable the ‘Today view and search’ option

From that moment on, the widgets will no longer be shown when your iDevice is locked. If you also do not want to show the notifications, disable the ‘notification center’ option.
View widgets anyway
Would you still like to consult your widgets from the lock screen? Then you can easily do this by tapping the screen of your iPhone or iPad and unlocking it by using Face ID, Touch ID or passcode.
You can enable this via Settings â–¸ Face ID/Touch ID & passcode â–¸ enable the ‘iPhone unlock’ option. On an iPad you naturally choose iPad unlocking.

Once your iPhone or iPad is unlocked, you can swipe from left to right on the Lock screen to view the widgets. This is possible even if you do not swipe left or right from the home screen (overview of apps).
