Apple has announced the iPhone 17e, which will follow the iPhone 16e a year later. This device has a powerful A19 chip and MagSafe support, making it a good choice for those looking for an affordable iPhone with modern features.
The design of the iPhone 17e has changed little compared to its predecessor. Apple has retained the Notch, which provides a visual difference from the iPhone 16 series. The 17e, like the previous model, is also equipped with a single wide-angle camera at the back and the adjustments are mainly software-based.
Familiar design with a modern twist
The iPhone 17e retains the familiar design with an aluminum casing, flat sides and a matte glass back for wireless charging. Dimensions are 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8 mm and it weighs 167 grams, which keeps it compact and light.
For the first time, a non-high-end model offers support for MagSafe and Qi2 charging at speeds of up to 25W. This means that you can not only charge wirelessly more easily and quickly, but you can also use magnetic accessories in combination with the iPhone 17e.
OLED display with Notch
The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology extends from edge to edge. At the top you will find a small notch that houses the Face ID TrueDepth camera. Unfortunately, Apple didn’t add the Dynamic Island to the 17e and the larger notch remains.
The action button allows you to quickly access the features you often need. With one press of this button you can open the camera, turn on the flashlight, turn the ringtone on and off, run a song through Shazam, activate the Dictaphone, Focus, the Translate app and accessibility features such as the magnifying glass, or use another feature via the Assignments app.
Powerful performance thanks to A19 chip
The iPhone 17e is equipped with a super-fast A19 Bionic 3-nanometer processor with a 16-core Neural Engine. The chip makes it possible to perform less complex tasks energy efficiently. This new A19 chip offers improvements in speed and energy efficiency over the previous A18 chip, but no radical differences have been mentioned.
Custom camera system
Unfortunately, there is no new Center Stage front camera available for the iPhone 17e, but the rear camera has been upgraded. This is mainly due to the A19 chip, which enables software improvements.
The 48MP Fusion main camera on the back delivers clear images and is equipped with an optical 2x telephoto lens, making it easy to zoom in; it feels like you have two cameras in one. In addition, the latest generation of Portraits has been introduced, with Focus and Depth Control. In addition, the Photographic Styles and stabilization ensure professional results in a compact format. Finally, the iPhone 17e can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second.
