Apple adds detailed F1 Miami Grand Prix viewing to Apple Maps

Get in the right mood for the Miami Grand Prix this weekend with Apple Maps. The tech giant has added the Miami International Autodrome and the surrounding area of the Formula 1 venue to their Maps app.

This provides a detailed view of every corner, the pit lane, the finish line and the grandstands. Of course, Apple has hidden several references to Formula 1 in the area, and there is even advertising for it F1: The Movie with Brad Pitt. In addition, Apple owns the Formula 1 rights for the United States, so you will also encounter advertisements for the Apple TV streaming service.

F1 Miami Grand Prix in Apple Maps

Apple has released a new update to Apple Maps, which now allows you to view the Miami Formula 1 circuit in detail. This addition has been made specifically in preparation for the Miami Grand Prix, which will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Thanks to the update, you can now virtually explore the modern circuit around the Hard Rock Stadium in Apple Maps. Surrounding facilities, the pit buildings, the finish stand and iconic locations such as The Marina and the entrance to the racing area can also be viewed in detail.

The circuit has a bright daytime display and an atmospheric night mode when you use your iPhone, iPad or Mac with dark mode. Additional details become visible around race days, such as corner markings, grandstands, the start/finish line and any information about temporary road closures around the circuit.

Cities in Detail

Adding the circuit is a smart feature to make Maps more realistic and easier to use. Apple uses Cities in Detail (Detailed City Experience) for this purpose, a feature that shows cities and their landmarks in 3D and with much more detail. This makes it easy for the user to navigate in the app.

‘Cities in Detail’ also contains stunning details of road markings, land use, trees and public transport routes. The display also helps you find your way, because, for example, exits, central reservations, cycle paths, bus lanes and zebra crossings are clearly indicated. For motorists, there is a dashboard view, in which you can see complicated intersections at car height. This makes it easier to estimate traffic and choose the right lane.
