Apple’s Podcast app gives users complete control over how they listen to podcasts. One of the most useful features is the ability to easily adjust the playback speed, so you decide how fast or slow an episode plays. This makes listening to podcasts even more efficient.
Whether you want to quickly move through content or catch every detail, the Podcast app allows you to adjust the pace to your preference. The function is smart to use and works immediately during playback, without having to change settings in advance.
Adjust playback speed in Podcast app
While playing a podcast, you will find a button in the player with the current speed, displayed as 1x by default. By tapping or clicking on this you open a menu in which you can easily choose a different speed.
You can find the button on an iPhone or iPad in full screen mode by tapping the media bar. On a Mac you will find this in the play bar or in full screen playback.

You can reduce the speed to 0.5x when you want to listen quietly or increase it up to 3x to go through episodes faster. This is especially useful for long podcasts or when you want to keep track of multiple episodes in a short time.
Swipe for more choices
On an iPhone or iPad, you can adjust the speed of a podcast in even more detail by swiping from right to left over the preset speeds. The buttons then change into a sliding switch that allows you to fine-tune the speed.

Practical use
The function works immediately and without additional settings. Once you choose a rate, it will immediately be applied to the current episode. In many cases, the app also remembers your preference, so you don’t have to choose again and again.
This not only makes the Podcast app more user-friendly, but also more efficient for daily use. Especially if you regularly listen to podcasts while traveling, exercising or working, you will immediately notice the benefit of this function.
