Instagram Stories allows you to paste photos and videos one after the other to present them as a temporary story. If you don’t want to be snooped, follow this tip.
Block Instagram Stories
Instagram launched its ‘Stories’ in August 2016. This feature is there to share moments of the day in a fleeting way. Instagram Stories is often compared to Snapchat, where you can also post photos and videos that disappear after a while. That happens just as well with the Stories on Instagram. After 24 hours they are gone.
The advantage Instagram has over Snapchat is that people can find you more easily. That will probably automatically result in more followers. Acquaintances (via Facebook) but also strangers, who have started following you based on photos you have previously taken.
You choose who you share stories with
You can now use Instagram in two ways. For example, you can use Stories to share quick and more personal photos, while you upload nicer photos to keep for longer. Whatever your reason, you may just not want strangers or acquaintances to watch your Stories. Then you can indicate this in the settings via the steps below.
- Open Instagram;
- Go to your profile (via the figure at the bottom right);
- Tap the gear at the top right to open the settings;
- Choose ‘Story Settings’;
- Tap on ‘Hide report from’;
- In this window, search for people you want to exclude, tick them and tap ‘Done’ in the top right of the screen.
Who watches your Stories?
If you have posted an Instagram Story, you can see who viewed the photos or videos. You do that by tapping on your own story. Not only do you see how many people have seen it, but also who has seen it. If you see someone who would rather deny you access, go through the tip above.
