Tip: empty your Twitter cache, this is how you do it in 5 steps

If you are frugal with your iPhone storage, the option to clear your Twitter cache comes at a time. In this tip we show you how to do this step by step.

How to empty Twitter cache

Heavy Twitter users can significantly increase the size of the app without realizing it. As you scroll through your timeline, the app fills up a cache at a rapid pace, by storing websites, cookies and login details, among other things.

This cache comes in handy if you want to use Twitter faster, but it also comes at the expense of your iPhone storage. This can make a difference, especially for owners of a 16GB device.

That is why we are so happy that the social network finally gives us more freedom to manage the storage ourselves. Until now, the only way to do this has been to manually uninstall and reinstall the Twitter app.

This is how you empty the Twitter cache

To empty your Twitter cache, you just have to follow the steps below. However, make sure you have the most recent version of the iOS app installed. The function is available from version 6.73.1.

  1. Open Twitter and tap ‘Me’
  2. Tap the gear and choose ‘Settings’
  3. Select ‘Data usage’
  4. Tap ‘Web Storage’
  5. Delete the saved data to free up space.

In our case, removing the web storage already saves 357MB.
