A large group of iPhone owners are complaining that their Apple ID has been blocked out of the blue. More and more affected users are making themselves heard via social media. This is how you restore your account.
Users are complaining about blocked Apple ID
Normally, an Apple ID is only blocked if, for example, a wrong password has been entered too many times to log in. It now appears that more and more iPhone users have been receiving a notification of a blocked Apple ID for the past few days. 9to5Mac discovered that it is a growing problem.
In such a case, you keep getting a pop-up message that you have to re-enter your Apple ID information because the account has been blocked. This prevents you from using services such as iMessage, iCloud and Apple Music. Some affected users keep seeing the prompt to sign in again even when setting up a new iPhone. Fortunately, a blocked Apple ID account is fairly easy to reactivate. Follow the steps below for this.
Apple ID blocked? This is how you restore your account
If your Apple ID has been blocked for security reasons, you will see one of the following warnings:
- “This Apple ID has been deactivated for security reasons.”
- “You cannot log in because your account has been disabled for security reasons.”
- “This Apple ID has been blocked for security reasons.”
When you see one of these warnings, go to this website to unlock your account. This can be done with your existing password, or you can set a new password. If you enter the wrong password several times, your Apple ID will remain blocked and you can try again the next day.
If you’re using two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, you need a trusted device (such as your Mac or PC) or a trusted phone number to reactivate your account. Once your Apple ID is reactivated, you will likely need to log in to services like iCloud again with your account information.
Apple has not yet responded to the issue. It is therefore still unclear what the exact cause is and or what the solution can be. It could also be that a massive hack by a group of malicious parties is the cause of the sudden blockages. As soon as we learn more about this, we will update this post with new information.
