The Apple Watch, like many other watches, is designed for right-handed people. Fortunately, Apple has thought of the left-handed among us, so that they too can easily operate the smartwatch.
Use Apple Watch left-handed
You must regularly use the crown to control your Apple Watch. That is why it is not always convenient for left-handers to wear the watch, just as is normally done by right-handers.
Wearing the smartwatch on your right wrist might cause problems with the placement of the crown, or it just feels a little crazy. Apple has therefore decided that it is more convenient that you can turn the watch over when you want to wear it on the right or with the Digital Crown in the other direction.

There are two ways in which you can make wearing an Apple Watch more pleasant as a left-handed person. Personally – even a left-handed person – I wear the Apple Watch on my left wrist, but then the other way around or upside down, as it were.
As a result, the Digital Crown can be found at the bottom left instead of on the right. This way you will have less trouble with a bending wrist that keeps hitting the Crown during sports or cycling, for example. Whether you wear your watch like this or prefer to wear it on your right wrist, with some adjustments in the settings, it can be arranged in no time.
This is how you set it up
This does not mean that you then have to read all notifications on the header. A special settings menu for the wearing position has been added. You can reach them as follows:
- Go to ‘My Watch’ and select ‘General’;
- Choose ‘Wearing position’;
- Then select ‘Right wrist’ if you are wearing the watch on the right, and ‘Left wrist’ for the left ‘;
- If you want to wear the Watch on the left, but the other way around, you can set this with the option ‘Digital Crown left’.
If you choose to wear the smart watch on your right wrist, you can also adjust the position of the Crown. If you want the Digital Crown on your right wrist on the side of your hand instead of your arm, then choose ‘Digital Crown left’ in combination with ‘Right wrist’.
As soon as you choose an opposite position of the crown, the interface of the Apple Watch rotates 180 degrees. This also means that the Apple Watch button is now above the home button. In addition, the watch straps are interchangeable and therefore reversible, so that you can wear the watch even more easily on your right wrist.
