By archiving WhatsApp conversations you keep an overview and you can store valuable information. In this tip we explain how you can start your own archive on WhatsApp.
Archiving WhatsApp conversations: this is how it works
You must have open WhatsApp chats that haven’t been said for weeks. Over time, this will give you an endless list of conversations. WhatsApp has therefore created a handy function to bring order to life: archiving. This saves the content of the conversations, but they are no longer in the Chats screen.
You can archive WhatsApp conversations like this:
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone;
- Go to the Chats screen (it opens by default);
- Swipe your finger from right to left on the chat you want to archive;
- Tap Archive.
In addition, it is possible to archive all WhatsApp chats at once. For this you have to dive into the settings of WhatsApp. Select Chats, then choose Archive All Chats. That way, all your ongoing conversations will be saved and removed from the Chats screen.
View and unarchive archived chats
You have now created a WhatsApp archive. This administration is always available. Do you need information from a completed conversation? Then go to Chats screen then swipe down. Then tap Archived Chats. In this overview you can see all conversations that are currently in the administration.
Do you want to unarchive a WhatsApp conversation? This can be done in two ways. The passive way is to wait until you get a new message. At that moment the chat is automatically removed from the archive. You can also manually unarchive WhatsApp chats. To do this, open the Archived Chats screen and swipe from right to left on the conversation you want to unarchive. Tap ‘Unarchive’ to confirm.
