Instagram now lets you organize your saved photos

Instagram has let you save photos of others since the end of last year. Now Instagram is rolling out collections so you can better organize these photos.

Instagram collections

At the end of last year, Instagram added a particularly useful feature to the app. Bookmarks allow you to save other people’s photos for later viewing, without anyone else being able to see them. You just have to click on the bookmark icon at the bottom right of the photo. Now it is possible to organize these photos by placing them in separate collections. These collections also remain private.

When you save a photo, you will be given the choice to add it to a collection or to start a new collection. Consider, for example, a collection of dog photos, photos that know how to inspire you or photos of nice people. You can also add old saved photos by clicking on the plus icon in the top right corner of a collection. The old tab with saved photos divides itself into two parts with the update: all photos and collections.

According to Instagram, no less than 46 percent of all users have already saved photos. That is why work has been done to expand the function. With these collections, Instagram is clearly a bit closer to the popular Pinterest, because users also place images in collections there. Unlike Instagram, Pinterest collections are primarily public. It therefore seems only a matter of time until it becomes possible to share a collection of saved Instagram photos with others.

We don’t see the collections in Instagram at the moment, so the function will probably be rolled out. In any case, make sure to download the latest version of the app. You do this by clicking on the link below. You need 89.1MB of free space to use the app. You must also run at least iOS 8.0.
