Continuing to motivate yourself to keep exercising is and remains a challenge for many people. These fitness apps make it a lot easier to put on your sneakers in good spirits.
The best fitness apps for iPhone
As you can see from the list of apps below, you can use them all on your iPhone. However, many of the apps do a better job if you also connect an Apple Watch. An Apple Watch Sport, for example, is a handy sports buddy if you plan to intensively focus on your sports performance and health.
1. Runkeeper
Runkeeper is the most popular running app in the App Store, and for good reason. This app has everything to get you running, including Spotify integration and an extensive logbook that keeps track of your performance. Add your friends for extra challenge. 2. Fitocracy
If you can use some motivation to get moving, you should give Fitocracy a try. This app turns training into a game in which you earn medals that you can show other users. The app mainly focuses on strength training, but has all kinds of different training programs from which to choose.
3. Carrot Fit
At iPhoned, we’re not averse to a bit of humor, which makes Carrot Fit one of our personal favorite fitness apps. This healthy app is filled with comical characters and exercises that only take seven minutes of your time. You collect points along the way, and Carrot Fit also gives you medals.
4. Lifesum
Exercise is important, but healthy eating and drinking plays just as important a role. With Lifesum you know exactly what and how much you eat, provided you keep track of it accurately in this app. Different ‘plans’ help you to live healthier, to lose weight or to gain weight.
5. Zombies, Run!
Runkeeper is a great running app, but if you have a vivid imagination, Zombies, Run! undoubtedly make you run faster. This app puts you in the middle of a zombie world and gives you over 200 missions, in which you follow a story and beat an army of brain-bending undead.
6. Gymbook
GymBook is an interesting one for the strength trainers among us. This fitness app is packed with exercises and a handy logbook where you can see exactly how often you should do an exercise and which muscle groups you train with it exactly. Afterwards, you can use a graph to see which muscle groups were most intensively trained during your workout.

7. Activity ++
If you like to use fancy fitness apps to view your daily activities, then Activity ++ is definitely worth it. The app is, according to many, a better version of Apple’s official Activity app thanks to clear graphs and allows you to view all your statistics in a separate window.
8. Activities
The Activity app that comes standard on your iPhone is a great way to actively take care of your health during the day. With an Apple Watch on your wrist, the app challenges you to fill three circles. If you do this, you will know at the end of the day that you have stood, walked and moved actively enough.
