The 4 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 2 – 2018

The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! You should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 2 (2018) here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Blendle Audio

Podcasts are growing in popularity and with the rise of smart speakers like the Google Home (and soon the HomePod) it is becoming even easier to listen to news, rather than read it. Blendle Audio is right on time in that respect: the news app introduces today, in its own words, ‘its biggest step since its inception’. The name nicely summarizes what the new function does: reading the most interesting articles of that day.

When you start the Blendle app, tap on ‘listen now’ to start the audio function. Each article is introduced with a short summary, so you can quickly determine whether it is for you. If not, swipe the screen to go to the next story. Just like you choose another song in Spotify. The feature is only available to Blendle Premium members, although free users can try it out for free.

2. Lifesum

Lifesum is clearly the best calorie counter in the App Store and also very handy. When starting the app, you indicate whether you want to be healthier, lose weight or gain weight. If you indicate that you want to lose weight, enter a target weight and how fast you want to achieve this.

The app itself recommends half a kilo per week. Lifesum can be used completely in Dutch and also has recipes, a pedometer and the option to add friends. Unfortunately, the best features are behind a paywall.

3. Paste

You may know the Paper app, which makes drawings and sketches easy on your iOS device. Developer FiftyThree has now put the Paste app in the App Store. This app lets you put together beautiful presentations without having to do much. The layout of a presentation is automatically created for you and looks neat.

You can add images, videos, documents or Spotify lists yourself, but you only have to drag them into the presentation. Paste then ensures that everything is beautifully presented. It is also possible to use Paper and Paste together, so that you can import your sketches directly onto a number of slides.

4. Rusty Lake: Paradise

The Rusty Lake series has been around for a while and a new volume appeared this week. Paradise, as the game is called, is basically very similar to its predecessors. It is a point-and-click game in which you go on an adventure as Jakob Eilander. His mother has died and he decides to return to the island to investigate her death.

We don’t want to reveal anything about the story, because the Rusty Lake games come into their own when you know little about them. Also present are the distinctive graphics and cool soundtrack, which quickly suck you into the game. The – sometimes somewhat unclear – puzzles are also cleverly put together and are therefore worthwhile. The game can be downloaded for 3.49 euros via the link below.
