Want to grab a bite to eat out without a reservation? Then there is a good chance that you will enter a full restaurant. Google Maps will warn you about this with an update.
Google Maps restaurant times added
Version 4.47 of Google Maps now shows the waiting times at more than a million restaurants in the world. A number that will only be expanded in the future. By searching for a restaurant and requesting more information, you will see a graph.
In this graph, blue bars indicate how busy it is on average, with an additional indication for the busiest time of the day and the average waiting time. If you discover that your favorite restaurant is completely full this way, another new function will come in handy.
From now on you can more easily browse through different reviews of locations. This way you can sort reviews by various factors and ratings. That way you not only know what the positive stories say, but you can also look up the opinions of critical eaters. This improved review function will be rolled out gradually. Even after installing the update, it can still take a while before you can get started with it.
Improved route description, but not yet in the Netherlands
Finally, Google will improve directions for travelers who travel by public transport. From now on, the app not only shows you which station you need to be at, but also which entrance is best to reach. This function does not yet work in the Netherlands and is slowly but surely becoming available in major world cities. New York, Paris and Madrid, for example, are already next, but Google promises that more cities will follow soon. The update to Google Maps that adds these features is now available for iOS.
