The 4 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 27 – 2018

The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 27 (2018) here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.

1. WhoSampled

If you listen to a song of which you cannot place a specific sample in it, WhoSampled is your lifesaver. The music recognizer has received a nice update. Apps like Shazam or Soundhound will search the song for you, WhoSampled will let you know what song the clips are from. The app listens to the song for a few seconds and then gives the name, artist and album, if any.

Thanks to the new update, you can immediately look up the original number of a sample. When WhoSampled recognizes the song from the sample, you immediately see all the information such as in which songs the sample was used, and whether remixes have been made of it. All searched songs are kept in your personal library. The app is intended for real music lovers: The app costs 4.49 euros and a (mandatory) annual subscription another 9.49 euros.

2. Tinder

The popular dating app Tinder has improved its security in the latest update. An American senator urged this with a critical letter. Security company Checkmarx found out at the beginning of this year that Tinder photos of users were sent unencrypted. For example, malicious parties can exchange profile photos for advertisements or nasty images.

Senator Ron Wyden wrote the letter to Tinder when he found out about it. With the update, Tinder ensures that actions can no longer be read, and that all images in the app are now fully encrypted. Nowadays you can match on Tinder on more than just distance or age. For example, you can link a Spotify account to match music and the app selects your best photo.

3. SafeDate

Have you already installed that Tinder update? Maybe downloading SafeDate is therefore worth considering to be safe offline as well. The SafeDate app automatically sends your best friends or family a message when a date goes wrong. Especially when you as a woman meet a man for the first time during a date, you can sometimes end up in unsafe or unpleasant situations. Letting you know where and with who you are every time and sending a message when the date has ended is no longer necessary with SafeDate. The app automatically sends a message, but only if something is wrong.

For example, you can add the location, time and the person with whom the date is in advance in the app. You can also set up friends and / or family who will receive a message if something is actually wrong, so-called Safe Mates. If you have not yet been in the app for the self-set ‘Safe Time’ and after a notification, they will receive all the details about the date. If you check in on time within the app, no one will receive a message.

4. GuruShots

GuruShots lets you participate in a photo contest every day. The app gives a series of photo assignments every day. You can shoot new photos, but you can also choose from your archive or already posted Instagram posts. Each assignment has its own theme, such as ‘shadows’, ‘blue and white’ or ‘ships and boats’.

Your photos are rated anonymously by other users. You can also vote yourself, which is also good for the reputation of your photo account. It remains a competition, so there are also prizes to be won. Sporadically, this can be a camera lens, but it is often digital prices to use in the app. These in turn help you to win a new match. The app is designed to keep going up in level. For example, if you want to get better at photography or become more creative at it, the app is a good challenge.
