The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 32 here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Migraine Buddy

The Migraine Buddy app helps you to fight against a banging headache. The app is a ‘tracking diary’ for headaches and is intended to guide people and provide insight into their migraine attacks.

If you get a headache attack or have you just had it, you can indicate in the app where you have pain, what the frequency is, how long the attack lasts and how intense the pain is. Factors such as your location, lifestyle and medicines are also included. This way, the best possible picture can be sketched about your migraine.

When you enter an attack, you will also be asked for ‘triggers’. Certain foods, alcohol, weather conditions, sleep and menstruation are examples of such triggers. The app teaches you to recognize triggers, so that you can adjust your lifestyle accordingly.

2. Apple Music

Apple added the Friends Mix discovery list in an update to Apple Music. The list automatically collects 25 songs from your friends’ listening history in the music streaming service. The Friends Mix is the fourth weekly personal playlist for users on Apple Music.

The list is refreshed every Monday with 25 new songs from your friends’ listening history. This should make it even easier to browse other people’s music choices. Then if you don’t have inspiration for what to listen to, you can easily cheat on your friends. Which songs exactly end up in the list is determined by an algorithm that is tailored to your music taste and the music history of your friends.

3. Recipe maker

Photo Cookbook is an app that feels like a cooking class. Large photos and comprehensible texts clearly show you step by step which ingredients you need and how to prepare them. The photos are of high quality and the ingredient list can be shared with others. Ingredients are also provided with photos and additional explanations. You can easily add notes to recipes, for example if you have given them your own twist.

The app teaches you recipes from the recipe collection Quick & Simple. It contains 60 recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. The app offers nine other cookbooks, each with at least 60 recipes, such as Italian, Asian or Simple & Delicious. Unfortunately, these are not free, but can be purchased per cookbook in the app.

4. Holedown

In Holedown it is up to you to dig to the bottom of a planet by shooting blocks with balls. Hitting the numbered tetris blocks will make them fall off the screen. You have to, because once a block reaches the top of the screen, it’s game over.

The balls (with happy faces on them) that you use to shoot these blocks bounce in all directions, which gives Holedown its depth. By hitting a certain block in the right way, you can cause a chain reaction that suddenly causes all blocks to tumble down.

Upgrades will be released along the way in the game. This allows you to fire several balls at the same time, or increase the total number so that you can get even further than before. You can also choose from multiple planets to play in.
