All the Bright Places
All the Bright Places is the film adaptation of the book of the same name by Jennifer Niven. The introverted Violet is mourning after the sudden death of her sister. Her classmate Theodore has been watching her for a while and decides it is time for Violet to start living again. But despite the cheerful character of Theodore, he too appears to have his own problems that he has to deal with. All the Bright Places is a comming of age love story.
Midsommar
There is a trend going on in horror film land where new and experimental horror films are being made. The fear of fear often plays a major role in this. Midsommar definitely belongs to the new and experimental horror genre and is by the same director as Hereditary. With bright colors and idyllic shots, it almost seems like a fairy tale, but nothing could be further from the truth. Midsommar is celebrated at a Swedish festival, the highlight of the summer. But the festivities take a strange and dark turn and soon everyone asks themselves: can I still trust my own eyes?
The Lost City of Z
Colonel Parcival Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) decides to go into the jungle of the Amazon with a team. He is convinced that he will find a lost and mythical city. But such an undertaking is of course not without its dangers. Think of wild animals and dangerous native tribes. The film is based on a true story.
Spider-man: Far from Home
Another new Marvel film will be available on Netflix. This time it is the most recent film from the Marvel universe: Spider-man: Far from Home. In this, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) tries to return to his role as a “friendly neighborhood spider-man”, but this seems unsuccessful when an alien man needs his help to save the world from destruction. This time Jake Gyllenhaal also participates in the action spectacle.
Dirty Harry
You must have seen this classic with Clint Eastwood in the lead. Harry Callahan is an inspector who hates criminals. He is definitely not afraid to do the dirty jobs with his revolver. When the assassin who calls himself “the Scorpio Killer” appears in his town, Dirty Harry Callahan gets every chance to show how far he is unwilling to go.
Edge of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow is a sci-fi film with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in the lead. The film is set in the future, in which most of Europe is occupied by an alien race. On the day the army decides to go into full attack against this alien race, it becomes clear that they cannot overcome this invasion. But then the day begins, and the attack starts again. Can this cycle be broken?
Dumb and Dumber
Dumb and Dumber is one of the 90s comedy classics with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as two very stupid friends. With their stupidity, they practically drive everyone around them to madness, but they themselves remain wonderfully ignorant. In Dumb and Dumber, the slapstick comedy is elevated to a true art.
Spirited Away
Netflix has recently put a lot of Studio Ghibli films on the map for us. In March, one of the most successful Studio Ghibli films is added, namely Spirited Away. This animation film has become a classic among fairy-tale (like) films and provides insight into Japanese folklore culture. He tells the story of 10-year-old Chihiro who, after moving to a new neighborhood, ends up in the spirit world. In that world, Chihiro has to watch her parents turn into pigs. She must find a way to free herself and her parents from the spirit world.
Saving Private Ryan
Many people died during the invasion of the Allies in Normandy. Similarly two farmers, whose third brother dies simultaneously in New Guinea during the war against the Japanese. When it appears that the fourth brother has been lost in the French countryside, a mission is started to find him and get him home safely. This war film with Tom Hanks won no less than 5 Oscars.
Mission: Impossible- Fall Out
Mission: Impossible – Fall Out is the latest addition to the successful Mission Impossible series with Tom Cruise in the lead. After a mission error has ended, this time he is fighting the threat of nuclear terrorism, while being assisted by a new colleague, August Walker. This role is played by Henry Cavill, who we now know as Superman and The Witcher Geralt of Rivia. A race against the clock follows while Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is also chased by the choices he has made in his past.
Angel has Fallen
Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman play together in Angel has Fallen. This is a continuation of the events that took place in “London has Fallen”. Secret agent Mike Banning is now being charged with attempting to murder the president. It has now become a matter of clearing his name and finding the real cause of evil. But that is difficult if a manhunt is taking place on you.
Django Unchained
Django Unchained has a true star cast: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio and Christoph Waltz play in this film, directed by Quentin Tarantino. The slave trade is in full swing in the 19th century in Jackson Mississippi. Django and his beloved Broomhilda are separated and sold to different owners. When Django is freed by a peculiar bounty hunter, he decides to go looking for his beloved but not before he has helped the bounty hunter in tracing some criminals who will bring in a sweet penny.
