The week is over and that means a fresh app overview is waiting for you! You should not miss out on these new apps, games and updates. The best iOS apps of week 31 can be found here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store is working overtime every week to process the endless stream of new apps and updates. However, you hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone or iPad could use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place for the best iOS apps.
1. Hyper Light Drifter
Hyper Light Drifter immediately catches the eye with its beautiful style. Take a few steps in this game, and you’ll quickly notice that there’s more to this world than pretty pictures. In the game you control a Drifter: someone who searches for ancient knowledge in a foreign land. This warrior is very sick and regularly leaves a pool of blood.
It’s your job to find a cure, if it isn’t easy. If you’re up for a hefty, challenging adventure, Hyper Light Drifter is the place to be. Not only do you get a tough challenge, but also a game that is a joy to watch and listen to.
2. Apple Podcasts
Apple has given its Podcasts app a makeover. Thanks to different categories, it should be easier to find podcasts that suit you. Broadly speaking, three types of categories have been added: the most popular shows, new shows and subcategories.
For example, if you tap the fiction category, you can quickly filter on multiple subcategories such as drama or romance. But if you click through, you’ll also get podcasts suggested under the name “long-running shows” or “more to discover.”
3. Minit
Do you have a minute? Then you have just enough time to play Minit, a unique game that gives performance under time pressure a new meaning. You always get one minute to complete tasks before you die. Then you start again, but the things you did in your last minute still exist.
That way, you work your way through a mysterious world minute by minute, full of comic characters who need your help. You can water plants, defeat crabs with your sword and traverse an endless desert. What makes Minit so good is that the game plays with this limitation in all sorts of ways.
Early in your adventure you will meet an old man at a lighthouse, who talks very slowly.
4. IKEA
Recently, housing giant IKEA put a completely revamped app in the App Store, and the first major update for it has now been rolled out. The Swedish company has improved all kinds of things, including the product pages. Here you will now find product information even easier, such as specific dimensions or materials.
It is also handy that from now on you can immediately see the current stock of a product in the store. This way you know whether the IKEA in your area has that product available. Finally, you can also immediately find the location of products in the store, so that you do not spend hours wandering through all the living rooms and shelving units full of other furniture.
