WhatsApp’s latest iOS update finally fixes an annoying bug. There will no longer be a badge above the WhatsApp icon if you have a message from a muted conversation.
No badge above the WhatsApp icon
The update may be small, but it’s important. Previously, you could mute group and individual conversations in WhatsApp, but as soon as a message was sent in a muted conversation, you still saw a badge above the WhatsApp icon.
That way it wasn’t really quiet after all, and that can be quite distracting. You often get notifications, especially with large group conversations. Then it is nice if you can mute the group, so that you are not continuously disturbed.
At first, only the vibration and sound were muted for these conversations, but if you still see a badge, you are quickly inclined to go and have a look. With the latest update, the badges on your iPhone will also disappear.
How to mute a conversation
You can mute a WhatsApp conversation by swiping left on a conversation in your chats and tapping “More.” Then choose ‘Mute’. You can choose how long you want to silence a conversation.
