The 5 Best iOS Apps in the App Store from Week 6 – 2020

The new week is just around the corner, but before that, let’s take a look back at the last seven days. The editors of iPhoned has rounded up the best iOS apps, games and updates from last week.

Last week’s 5 best iOS apps

The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates for existing programs and games are added all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separate the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are this week’s best iOS apps, updates, and games.

1. Byte

Vine’s successor has finally arrived: Byte. A while ago the owner of Twitter decided to pull the plug on the popular app Vine, but now the makers are back with a similar app. The gap left after Vine was largely filled by TikTok, but that’s not to say there isn’t room for Byte.

TikTok is from the Chinese company ByteDance: a company that does not shy away from censoring videos if there is criticism. As a result, many users are a bit fed up with it and an alternative where that does not happen is more than welcome. Vine’s original idea has remained unchanged: you can upload a video of up to six seconds.

2. Microsoft To Do

Popular to-do list app Wunderlist is now part of Microsoft To Do. With this you can create to-do lists for yourself, or then share them with, for example, a roommate. He or she can edit these files in the app, after which it will be automatically synced on your computer, iPhone and iPad.

For example, you can divide the household tasks among yourself. You can also set an ultimatum on which to finish the job. Also very useful: you can create a shopping list that both of you can edit. So you never have to forget something in the supermarket again.

3. Google Maps Map

Google Maps exists 15 years and the company celebrates that with a major update. The most important improvement: you can now always see how fast you are allowed to drive somewhere. In the lower left corner of the screen while navigating, see what the maximum speed is. The icon changes color if you drive too fast.

Google Maps now has a new icon, which fits better with the rest of Google’s apps. The colorful card has disappeared and is replaced by a thumbtack with the colors of Google. In the video above you can see how this new icon was created. In addition, there are now five tabs at the bottom: Explore, Commute, Saved, Contribute and Updates.

4. Tube Snake

This addictive game is very reminiscent of the traditional arcade game Snake. In this simple game you are a snake that has to eat pixels. With each pixel, the snake gets a little longer. The taller you get, the harder it is to move.

In Tubesnake you don’t move across the screen, but through a tunnel. You move up and down to get through the tunnel. Extra fun: the game can also be played on your Apple Watch.
