Best iOS Games July 2020

1. iPhone Game of the Month: Creaks (Apple Arcade)

As soon as game maker Amanita Design releases a new game, our interest is immediately aroused. This studio is behind titles such as Machinarium, Samorost, Botanicula and Chuchel.

Amanita Design’s games shine in different ways. First of all, the game maker knows how to create a fun world every time that we are eager to discover. The attention that goes to the smallest details with a fine drawing style makes these worlds fun to walk through from start to finish. The characters, sounds and crazy soundtracks top it off.

Now Amanita Design has a new game on Apple Arcade. Actually, Creaks is the game maker’s second game for the subscription service. Pilgrims could already be played before, but that was more of a trip for the studio. Creaks fits the description above much better and that makes us very happy.

Wandering and puzzling

In the game, you take control of a man who is trying his best to concentrate in his room. Then suddenly a lamp flashes. After turning on the lamp, the lamp will flash again and the wallpaper will begin to tear. When a secret door appears behind the wallpaper with a huge staircase underneath, an adventure starts.

You descend further and further into a special world, full of puzzles and dangers. You have to think smart about how to avoid those dangers, because you have nothing with you. You only brought a flashlight and you lose even that very quickly. Then all you have left is your cleverness and the will to go deeper and deeper and discover more.

That is more than worth it, because just like previous games, Creaks is a wonderful adventure game that constantly stimulates you to discover and move on. This is the Amanita Design we love so much. Put on headphones to enjoy the full game.

2. Crying Suns

Crying Suns is a wonderfully comprehensive, tactical rogue-lite. The game is somewhat reminiscent of the popular FTL, in which you have to survive as long as possible in your spaceship, while each play session is completely different. In Crying Suns, you must command not one ship, but an entire space fleet.

Explore and survive exciting tactical space battles. Crying Suns is so extensive that you will be surprised every time you play. The game is a bit pricey, but well worth the price tag.

3. Arrog

Arrog is a nice little puzzle game set in a bizarre world with very little color. The hand-drawn game tells of a man who has to accept his death. Arrog is beautiful, but short. It probably won’t take you much longer than twenty minutes, but in that time you will get a wonderful experience.

4. Lullaby of Life (Apple Arcade)

Once started as a Global Game Jam game (where games are created in a matter of days), an expanded version of Lullaby of Life is now playable via Apple Arcade. In the game you wander around in a microscopic universe, in which you can only progress if you use the right music. For that you have to collect friends who can sing different tones. The result is a nice and quiet game, which is also suitable for younger gamers.

5. 1sland

There is an island in the sea and the first player to reach it gets to claim it. In this race against time you have different resources. Like a buoy that lets you know where you come from and a flare gun to know how far you still have to go. do you win? Then you can adjust the island to your wishes.
