The new week is just around the corner, but before that, let’s take a look back at the last seven days. The editors of iPhoned have listed the best iOS apps, games and updates from last week.
Last week’s best iOS apps
The Apple App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing applications and games appear all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of the programs are not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separates the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are the best iOS apps, updates, and games from last week.
1. My Memory of Us
This special game has already been released on most game consoles and PC, but is now also making its appearance on iOS. The game is about the friendship between a young girl and a boy in Warsaw, just before the start of the Second World War. The two are separated, but still try to stay together in a violent world.
Your task is to solve puzzles throughout the story. The girl and the boy each have their own talents. The girl can run very fast and is good with the slingshot. On the contrary, the boy is very agile, and can sneak silently through the shadows. The game is made in a beautiful, artistic style, with a melancholic story in a black and white jacket.
2. Shadow Fight Arena
In Shadow Fight Arena, you put together a team of three heroes who fight in martial arts style with other players. The game combines a single-player mode, which fans may already know from previous Shadow Fight games, with an all-new element.
There is now for the first time a Player versus Player mode, where you can fight other opponents in real-time. You can choose from 15 different characters, but the app developer has already announced that more will be added later.
3. Iris and the Giant
Iris and the Giant is a card game, but that doesn’t quite cover it. The game is mainly an adventure game. You play as Iris, who faces her fears in her own fantasy world. The further you go on your journey, the more fragments of memories you encounter. Gradually you learn more and more about the reason for the trip in Iris’s own mind.
Along the way you also have to fight with monsters that you encounter. Here you put together a deck of cards with which you have to defeat the monster. After each battle, choose a new card to add to your collection. By making strategic choices, your card collection becomes increasingly stronger.
4. Birthplace
With Birthplace you not only play a game, but you also contribute to improving the real world. The game is similar to popular games like Farmville and Hay Day. However, instead of building a farm, you’ve been given the task of helping an orangutan and a boy to restore the devastated rainforest.
You bring animals back to their natural habitat, and along the way you also learn everything about the animals, plants and climate change in the rainforest. Collecting fruits can help you perform a variety of tasks, from preparing meals to scaring woodcutters. In the meantime, the game also contributes to a good cause: by making purchases in the game you help with global reforestation.
