The new week is just around the corner, but before that, let’s take a look back at the last seven days. The editors of iPhoned have listed the best iOS apps, games and updates from last week.
Last week’s best iPhone apps
The Apple App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing applications and games appear all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of the programs are not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separates the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are the best iOS apps, updates, and games from last week.
1. Spring Notes
Are you looking for a note-taking app with extensive possibilities? Then SpringNotes is worth checking out. This new app is packed with possibilities and clever tricks. For large tasks, for example, you can indicate to what extent you have already completed the job and specify due dates.

Furthermore, the app syncs between iPhone, iPad and Mac. This means you always have your notes, notes and to-do lists at hand. Also handy: you can divide documents into folders and folders according to your own wishes. And as soon as you decide to thoroughly edit a note, you can simply export the file to the format of your favorite word processor.
2. Ronin: The Last Samurai
Are you fond of the age of the samurai and good at spotting patterns? Then Ronin: The Last Samurai is made for you. This game, as you might expect, takes place in ancient Japan. You take on the role of a samurai who sets out to avenge his dead king.
You do this by defeating all kinds of enemies. The game mainly focuses on timing: do you choose to attack, or do you defend. Your choice is crucial, because if you choose wrong you will be cut short. In addition, you have to pay attention, because all enemies attack according to certain patterns. It’s up to you to find the weaknesses in this.
3. Microsoft Word and Excel
Technically, it may not be an iPhone app, but Microsoft’s Office suite received a nice update last week. You can now use a mouse in the iPad version of Word. This is a nice addition, especially in light of the many working from home. Trackpads like the Magic Keyboard are also supported.
Microsoft has also updated the Excel app for the iPad. From now on, the Office suite’s spreadsheet program supports multi-window. That way you can open and view two Excel sheets side by side. This addition is especially nice for multitaskers.
4. The Pillar
Those who love puzzles should really give The Pillar a chance. This game was released for PC last summer and has now made the switch to iPhone. In The Pillar you are trying to escape. You are stuck in a fantasy world that consists of several islands. You probably guessed it, but to escape you have to solve a lot of puzzles.
Each island has its own design and atmosphere, so that The Pillar continues to feel fresh. Moreover, there is a lot of variety in the puzzles. As a result, you cannot put your brain on ‘conveyor belt’ mode, but you have to continuously look and think logically. That said, the environments are constantly changing. This makes the puzzles even more challenging.
