Before the new week starts, let’s take a look back at the past few days. The iPhonededitors have rounded up this week’s best iPhone apps and updates for you.
1. Final Fantasy VIII
Last week, the remastered version of Final Fantasy VIII was released for iOS. This game was released for the first PlayStation in 1999. The developer has therefore polished the game graphically and adapted the controls for smartphones. The characters have also been updated and some new features have been added.
Final Fantasy is originally a Japanese roleplaying game. You take on the role of a noble warrior trying to break free from the violent regime in Galbadia, a fictional country. You do that by defeating enemies while getting stronger. The battles in Final Fantasy take turns: then you, then you the opponent, and so on.
2. Crash Bandicoot: On The Run
In recent weeks, another legendary game series also returned. Crash Bandicoot: On The Run is a so-called runner game. You follow a course, dodge objects and try to collect as many points as possible. Along the way you have to change lanes regularly, so your reflexes will be challenged.
This basically makes the game Temple Run, a game that was popular years ago, but set in the Crash Bandicoot universe. You tap the screen to break boxes and a swipe takes you from one lane to the next. So don’t expect a classic Crash Bandicoot game, although we had a great time with it for a while.
3. Poly Vita
Anyone who has had enough of the hectic pace of Crash Bandicoot will find peace in Poly Vita. This new puzzle game is characterized by a serene atmosphere. The developer was inspired by Monument Valley, one of the best iPhone games of all time.
So Poly Vita is a puzzle game. You do this by connecting memories so that Maya, the main character, can find her way back. Those thoughts connect you by moving platforms and adding new pieces. There are a total of 30 levels, each with their own unique features.
4. Vinyls
Not a fan of Apple’s default Music app? Then try Vinyls. This app for Apple Music subscribers is made by the developer of Aviary, a really great Twitter app. Vinyls is a very minimalistic music app and only shows a vinyl record and some control buttons while playing.

But, you can also be the DJ yourself by playing records. Literally. You can scratch in Vinyls by tactically moving the vinyl record back and forth. Furthermore, the beautiful app has a special version for the iPad, you can place widgets on your iPhone home screen and create keyboard shortcuts, for example.
5. Morpho
Morpho is a converting app in the broadest sense of the word. You simply enter a certain number, and then you see how many degrees Celsius, Fahrenheit, Dollar, kilometers per hour, ounces or millimeters something is. You can choose from over 170 units and 170 currencies in total.

Saving certain options as favorites puts them at the top of your list. Morpho is anything but a spectacular iPhone app, but a very practical one. For example, you can also place widgets on the home screen, directly copy results and the app has a version for the Apple Watch.
