The App Store has added thousands of new apps in the past week. For example, Facebook now lets you share Live Photos, the Mubi video service now also works on the Apple TV and the cool game Dropsy appeared.

Whatson Planner is a new Dutch app that allows you to find times faster to meet up with friends or family. It is a kind of search engine for calendars. Instead of having to look for free places in your agenda yourself, Whatson Planner does that for you. You can make a new appointment by tapping on a part of the day and then entering a name, time and place.

With the latest version of the Facebook app it is possible to share Live Photos on the social network. When you choose a photo, the bullseye icon lets you choose whether to post a still image or the animated Live Photo to Facebook. Because not everyone owns an iPhone 6S (Plus), only a limited number of users can see the moving images.

With the latest version of the versatile video app VLC, it is possible to watch videos on an iPad while doing something else. The new version adds Split View functionality. You can use this on the iPad Air 2, iPad Pro and iPad mini 4. In addition, it is now possible to unlock the VLC app with Touch ID.

Mubi is a service that allows you to stream movies, but it takes a completely different direction than its competitors such as Netflix or Videoland. You won’t find thousands of films there, but only thirty. Every day a movie disappears from the service, but one always comes back for it. The app can now be used with the Apple TV, so you can also enjoy the content on the big screen.

In the Focus camera app, the emphasis is on perfectly framing your subject. Focus has a handy built-in function called Smart Focus Peaking, which shows you in real-time which part of what you want to photograph is in focus. The feature helps create a great depth of field effect, with the background blurred and the foreground sharp.

Making 3D photos is not necessarily new, but Slide gives the principle its own jacket. The app is simple: you open the app, point your iPhone at what you want to photograph and press the button. After this, you need to move your iPhone horizontally, smoothly but accurately. Then tap on a point in the photo and Slide automatically gives it a nice 3D effect.

Dropsy is a special adventure game about a misunderstood clown who only wants to give out hugs. The world is bizarre, but the story is unforgettable. The gameplay is reminiscent of old adventure games, with an inventory for all collected items and a ton of characters to speak to. All conversations are conducted through images, with which you have to figure out what the characters want.

The Littlstar app is now available for the Apple TV. This now makes it possible to watch 360 degree videos on the big screen. It is a special app, because it collects videos from Disney, Showtime, Discovery, National Geographic and more. One moment you’re watching a ballerina dancing, while the next you’re almost being eaten by a shark.

The game Into The Dim is a free roguelike for iOS and works through a turn system that requires you to attack enemies tactically. Unlike other roguelike games, the level design in Into The Dim is always the same. So you know where the enemies are walking and where you can grab coins. Although you will quickly die the first few times, you will get better and better.
