Bose has announced its Smart Soundbar 900, an all-in-one soundbar that aims to make subwoofer ceiling speakers obsolete in one fell swoop. You can give commands to the Google Assistant and the device supports Dolby Atmos sound.
Bose Smart Soundbar 900
Audio manufacturers are putting more and more features in their soundbars, and it’s not just about support for smart assistants or smart TV, but they also want to make the sound more versatile. The Bose Soundbar 900 makes exactly that promise, as it has a total of seven speakers, including two that face upwards. The brand wants to send audio vertically upwards to offer an alternative to the ceiling speakers of a surround installation. ‘TrueSpace’, that’s what Bose calls it.
In addition, the Smart Soundbar comes with even more smart functions. According to Bose, he can use ‘spatial technologies’ to simulate sound effects when you play content that is not compatible with Dolby Atmos. The device can also adjust its sound to the presence of furniture in your living room, so that it does not disturb the sound.

Price and availability
The Smart Soundbar will go on sale in the US from September 23 for $899. It is expected that it will cost us about 919 euros, at least if it is released in the Benelux. The device is made in a black and white variant.
JBL launched a soundbar this year with similar functions but with a midrange price tag. You can read about our experiences with the JBL Bar 5.0 MultiBeam in the review.
