Easy scrolling on websites

Scroll through a web page using the scroll bar, scroll wheel, keyboard, or finger. What is the nicest way?

Often we do not see all the information from an internet page on the screen at the same time. The site contains too much information for that. If you want to see all the information, scroll down. This can be done in different ways on the PC: via the scroll bar, with the scroll wheel of the mouse, via a touchpad and with the keyboard. On devices with a touch screen, such as a smartphone, the user scrolls with the finger.

If a page contains more information than you see on the screen, a scroll bar appears on the right side of the Internet window. Move this scroll bar to see the rest of the page.

  • In the right part of the window, hover the mouse pointer over the scroll bar.
  • Click on the scroll bar, hold down the mouse button and move the mouse pointer up or down.

The web page moves in the right direction.

Many computer mice have a scroll wheel. There is a small wheel between the left and right mouse buttons. Spin the wheel with your index finger to move a web page up or down.

There are arrow keys on the keyboard. Allows you to scroll. Press the down arrow key to scroll down. Use the up arrow key to scroll up again.

Laptops often have a touchpad (also called a trackpad). It is a touch-sensitive area that allows the user to control the mouse pointer. You can also scroll with the touchpad.

  • Place two fingers on the touchpad.
  • Move the two fingers up to scroll down.
  • Move the two fingers down to scroll up.

There are also touch screen devices. Think of smartphones, tablets and some laptops. On these devices you can simply scroll with your finger.

  • Hold one finger on the screen.
  • Swipe up to scroll down.
  • Swipe down to scroll up.
