iCloud makes it easy to back up data on iPad or iPhone. But what exactly do you store online? Control which apps data comes from in iCloud.
Storage service iCloud
iCloud online storage service allows you to back up your data. If you have this feature turned on, the information from the iPad or iPhone will be saved automatically. Apple offers you 5 GB of free storage. If you have a lot of photos, videos, and other information on your device, the available storage space can quickly fill up. Therefore, decide for yourself which data is stored in iCloud.
Disable per-app backup
iCloud backs up information from many different apps. It is useful to have a backup of some files, such as photos. With information from other apps, such as games, this may not be necessary. Remove apps from the backup on an iPad/iPhone with iOS11 or later:
- Tap on Institutions > your username > iCloud.
- There is a row of apps that use iCloud. This means that information from the apps is stored in iCloud for you. Tap the slider next to an app you don’t want backed up. The slider becomes gray or white instead of green.
- Do this for any other apps you want to remove from the backup.
