Give default apps in Windows a dark background. That can be calmer for the eyes.
Set dark background
The background of most default apps in Windows is white. That can be a bit bright and even hurt the eyes. Set a dark background for apps like the calculator like this:
- Click the Start button in the Taskbar.
- click on Institutions (the gear icon).
- click on Personal settings.
- click on Colors.
- Click on the drop-down menu under the ‘Choose a default app mode’ option.
- click on Dark.
- The Settings background immediately turns black.
- Click on the cross in the top right to close the Settings.
Prefer a white background color? Follow the steps above, but then click on “Choose a default app mode” light.
