In 2022, the iOS 16 update will be released which may not be available for the iPhone 6s, iPhone SE and some older iPads. Read below whether your device is included.
A few months ago, iOS 15 was released for iPhone and was available to download for any iPhone running iOS 14. As you know, older devices are slowly no longer being supported by new system updates. This is also the case with the iOS 16. In 2022, iOS 16 will be released which will no longer support some Apple devices.
Apple iPhone
It was striking that last year it was already announced by the French website iPhoneSoft that the iPhone 6s and SE would not receive the iOS 15 update. Ultimately, this turns out not to be true. Now they come with the news that these two iPhone models have jumped the dance and will no longer get the iOS 16 update. While the older iPhones did have iOS 15, they don’t get the full range of new features.
Apple iPad
The iPad that cannot be updated to iOS 16 are: the iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, the fifth-generation iPad, and the iPad Pro from 2015. For these devices, iPadOS 15 is likely the latest update. Incidentally, this would be the first time that an iPad Pro can no longer be updated.
You don’t have to buy a new iPhone or iPad right now, because the devices will still work as they do now. There will be no new features added. In the long run, you will find that some apps no longer work, because they are not supported by older iOS variants. Apple still provides the most necessary security updates, even for the older iOS versions.
