Samsung introduces The Freestyle, a new smart portable projector with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels that can rotate up to 180 degrees and can provide you with a large image anywhere (from 30 to 100 inches). You don’t need a separate screen, it’s also a smart speaker and offers mood lighting.

As mentioned, The Freestyle is a lightweight projector, smart speaker and mood lighting in one. The Freestyle weighs just 830 grams and unlike conventional projectors, The Freestyle’s versatile mount can rotate up to 180 degrees, allowing users to display high-quality video anywhere – on tables, floors, walls or even ceilings. No separate screen is needed.
The projector comes with fully automatic keystone and leveling functions. In combination with the 180-degree swivel functionality, the screen adjusts automatically. In addition, the autofocus function ensures a clear image on any surface, up to a size of 100 inches. The Freestyle comes with a dual passive subwoofer and speakers that should spread the sound in 360 degrees.
Battery
The Freestyle works with external battery packs that support USB-PD and 60W/20V output or higher, so users can take it anywhere.
Mood lighting and smart speaker
When The Freestyle is not streaming content, the device can be used as mood lighting thanks to the ambient mode and translucent lens cap. In addition, The Freestyle is a smart speaker that links music and visual effects.
The Freestyle has the same Smart TV capabilities as Samsung Smart TVs. Think of built-in apps from streaming services and functions for mirroring and casting. The Freestyle is also suitable for use with both Android and iOS devices. It is the industry’s first portable projector to be certified by global OTT partners. Finally, it is also the first projector with remote voice control, allowing users to choose their preferred voice assistant2 when using the device hands-free.
Price and availability
The Freestyle was first seen at CES 2022 from January 5-7. Pre-order for the Dutch market will start on January 20, The Freestyle will be available in the Netherlands from February 14, and the price has not yet been announced.
