Samsung Galaxy S21 is the first security update in January

Samsung is currently making the January security update available for the Galaxy S21 series. Those are the first Samsung devices that can expect the update.

Samsung Galaxy S21 January Update

In recent months, we saw that Samsung often updated its phones faster than Google. So the latest security patch ran faster on a Samsung phone than on a Pixel. This time Samsung is a little later, because Google rolled out the patch to its phones earlier this week. Now the update is ready for the S21 series.

Earlier this week, it was announced that a total of 21 security vulnerabilities in Android have been addressed. Samsung has also rolled out improvements for its own One UI 4.0 shell. About the update, we know that Samsung will come with improvements for the security of the phone manager, the bluetooth connection and Knox. Also fixed a bug that was recording the running activities of apps.

The firmware version of this update is “G99*BXXUBULF” and it is only available for Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra. Although we expect that the rollout to other Samsung phones will follow soon. However, it may take a few days before you see the update on your S21 phone, especially if you have a branded-phone from T-Mobile or Vodafone.

The update will be rolled out over-the-air to the Galaxy S21 series and once it’s in you’ll see a notification in the notification bar. You can also manually search for the update: Settings > Software update > Download and install.
