Last week, the first beta versions of iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3 were rolled out. As a result, many different new functionalities are emerging for your iPhone and iPad and Mac users can finally get started with Universal Control.
If we look a little further than the coming weeks, we can expect a lot more news. For example, there are already three functionalities that are almost certain to appear for your iPhone. Which are they?
iOS: three functionalities for the future
We can of course expect more than three functionalities for iOS in the coming year. Still, at the moment three additions are as good as known, MacRumors reports. We list them clearly for you:
#1 Apple Music Classical
In 2021, Apple acquired streaming service Primephonic, among other things. It is a musical service that focuses on classical music. At the time, Apple announced that it was planning to Apple Music Classical to be launched in 2022. Logically, this application combines the best of both worlds and allows people with a Apple Musicsubscription to enjoy everything the classic genre has to offer. So keep in mind that Classical will be available for iOS this year.

#2 Driving license in your Wallet app
As with the vaccination certificate, Apple will also make it possible to add driver’s licenses to the walletapp. For now, the functionality only appears in the United States, but that was also the case with that first proof. Thanks to iOS 15.4, we now know that European citizens can also put their vaccination in Apple’s application.
Last year it became clear that the driver’s licenses will first appear in the states of Arizona and Georgia. Other states will follow later this year. Just like with debit cards, it is possible to press the power button on your iPhone twice and show your driver’s license. The functionality does not show up in iOS 15.4 yet, so will appear in a later beta version or operating system.
#3 Pay like Square
Bloomberg’s trusted technology journalist, Mark Gurman, said Apple is working on a payment functionality. This could, for example, transform the iPhone into a payment terminal. Holding a payment card on the back of the iPhone should theoretically complete a payment.
Previously it was clear that this had to be an iOS 15 functionality, but according to Gurman, Apple could also keep this as an iOS 16 option. Time will tell.

You’ve seen it pass by a few times in this article: iOS 15.4. The update is not yet available for your iPhone, but the operating system can already be tested by developers. This has given us a good idea of what options, additions and improvements we can expect.
