Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy A73 along with the Galaxy A53 and A33. This device must be the most powerful device in the Galaxy A series and it is the only one with a 108 MP camera. Nothing is known yet about prices and availability in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Samsung Galaxy A73
On Thursday, Samsung presented its Galaxy A53 and A33, two phones in the middle segment, and traditionally popular devices from the A series. Like its predecessor, this Galaxy A73 also seems to be somewhat overshadowed, because the phone was presented in silence and only appears in select markets, you know that. Android Authority†
The Galaxy A73 resembles the A53 in many aspects and those similarities already start with the design. This phone also comes without a 3.5mm audio jack and Samsung no longer supplies a charger in the box either. Samsung is launching this device with a fingerprint scanner under the screen and the A73 is also IP67 waterproof again.
Bigger screen, same battery
The screen of the A73 is a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel that is slightly larger than the 6.5-inch screen of the A53. It does have the same 120Hz refresh rate and a Full HD resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels.
Samsung does not share which chipset is used in its Galaxy A73, only that it is a 2.4GHz octa-core processor. That makes us strongly suspect that Samsung uses the same Exynos 1280 processor that is also in the A53. The phone will also come with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. Despite its larger size, the Galaxy A73 comes with the same 5,000 mAh battery that is also in the A53. The device runs on Android 12 and the One UI 4.1 software shell.

108MP camera with OIS
A major selling point of this phone is its camera setup. It is a 108 MP sensor that works with optical image stabilization and that should be a step forward compared to the 64 MP sensor in the A72. The phone is again assisted by a 12 MP wide-angle camera and a 5 MP macro camera. It is striking that Samsung is scrapping the 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Instead, the A73 gets a 5 MP depth camera. The selfie camera is a 32 MP one.

Samsung has not yet shared anything about the prices and availability of these phones. The manufacturer only stated that the device will appear in a limited number of markets. We asked Samsung Netherlands for more clarity and they gave the following answer: “This device will not be available in NL for the time being.”
