This is what Google Maps and McDonald’s have in common

Research agency Multiscope has conducted a study in which, among other things, the travel behavior of Dutch people came to the fore. The research revealed some interesting information about Google Maps and McDonald’s. You can read why here.

Checking Google Maps with a hamburger

That information comes from Smart Mobility, a study by Multiscope into travel behaviour, providers and the future of smart mobility solutions among more than 3,000 Dutch people. That research has shown that Maps is the most used navigation app among the Dutch, and according to the research that choice is mainly determined by the type of transport. In addition, the Dutch prefer to stop at McDonald’s on the way.

Google Maps is by far the favorite travel app, according to the results: “57% of the Dutch indicate that they use this app while on the road. Both the elderly and young people use this to find their way in traffic. Nearly 50% of people over 50 use Google Maps. In the 18-34 age group, this even rises to 67%.” Number two is the NS Travel Planner, which you can also use door-to-door. This is followed by 9292OV, Flitsmeister, Parkmobile and other navigation apps.

Type of transport determines choice of navigation app

Naturally, NS Reisplanner and 9292OV score higher among regular users of public transport. “About 70% of regular public transport passengers use these apps. In addition to Google Maps, motorists regularly opt for Flitsmeister and Parkmobile. Among the over-50s, 15% regularly uses the ANWB Weg app”, the survey states.

Burger on the go

About 71% of the Dutch sometimes stop at a restaurant or other place to eat. The hamburger is a favorite: “McDonald’s is the most popular. No less than 34% sometimes visit this fast food chain. Among young people (18-34 years old), this percentage even rises to 43%. La Place (29%) follows and is a favorite among the over-50s. AH to go (26%) comes in third and scores well with young people. This is also related to the fact that this age group uses public transport relatively often.”
