iOS 15.5: all the features and improvements coming to your iPhone

People with an iPhone at home can get ready for iOS 15.5. Apple is busy developing the new operating system that will be released later this year. What can we expect from it?

iOS 15.4 was a nice update that rolled out several new features for the iPhone. Unfortunately, the battery went wrong for a while, but consumers finally got access to Universal Control and new Emoji. Is iOS 15.5 going to be just as big an update?

This article is based on information available after the first beta version that Apple rolled out. We will update this article as soon as features and improvements are removed or added to the system.

The new functionality of iOS 15.5

The first beta version doesn’t show a lot of the operating system yet. We will soon divide this article into ‘improvements’, ‘additions’ and ‘bug fixes’ sections. For now, we list the five biggest things about iOS 15.5.

Apple Music for classical music

In 2021, Apple acquired the streaming service Primephonic. Since then, more and more information has emerged about a dedicated Apple Music app for classical music. iOS 15.5 shows that the developments may be at a further stage than expected.

References such as “open in Apple Classical” and “Open this in the new app designed for classical music” pop up in the iOS 15.5 code.

Apple Pay Cash

Within the Cashsection of Apple Pay, it is possible to manage your money more easily from iOS 15.5. This way there will be a Request- and shippingbutton added to the app. You can use this to send a payment request or transfer money to someone else.

SportsKit

Apple continues to expand the SportsKit in iOS 15.5. This logically has to do with the start of the Major League Baseball broadcasts that the company will provide on Apple TV+.

References to the TV app also pop up in the operating system’s code, where users can see live scores.

New name iTunes Pass

Apple will probably introduce a new name for the iTunes Pass with iOS 15.5. It will be renamed to Apple Balance. At least, that’s what the new operating system refers to.

iOS 15.5: Tip for Universal Control

The beta version of iOS 15.5. and iPadOS 15.5. causes Universal Control to stop working. Apple warns test users about a lack of support for devices with an older operating system.

The American company recommends that all those devices be equipped with the most recent version. The question is, of course, how much value you attach to Universal Control.
