LG QNED

In 2022, finding a suitable television is quite a challenge. New technologies follow each other in rapid succession and the specification lists are flying around you. Then try to stay clear. To help you with that, let’s shine a light on LG’s latest invention: QNED.
QNED is the name LG has given to the technology used for all their 100 hertz LED televisions. For this they have combined several innovations, such as quantom dkkot and NanoCell, to make their best LED-LCD television.
5 things you should know about LG QNED
This innovation provides a very impressive spec sheet, but that is not of much use to you as a consumer. They simply want to know what the improvements are in practice. In short, how will QNED take television viewing to a higher level? We list five reasons to (not) go for this television.
1. LG QNED uses mini LED
Every LCD television has a light source that shines light through non-self-illuminating pixels. However, this can be done in different ways. LG QNED uses the most advanced option for this: mini-LED. By using thousands of small LED lights, the different zones can be illuminated very specifically. This provides a stronger contrast than with other lighting techniques. The result is not only that dark is really dark, but also that colors come into their own better.

2. The Introduction of Quantum NanoCell
You have probably heard of quantum dot and NanoCell. These are two techniques used to filter out dull colors and make the desired colors even more vibrant. These two techniques are combined in the new LG QNED televisions. This allows you to enjoy even richer, pure colors. This combined with the advantages of mini-LED provides an almost unparalleled viewing experience.
3. AI 8K Upscaling
When buying a television we mainly look at the screen, but what lies behind it is just as important. For example, we find a powerful AI processor in the LG QNED televisions. This one uses deep learning algorithm to analyze what you are looking at. For example, he can still convert non-native 8K content to 8K. Upscaling usually results in a less beautiful image, but that is not the case thanks to the AI processor of the LG QNED. Even on the largest screens, all details are preserved and the image is razor sharp.

4. QNED is not yet an OLED on several fronts
LG takes the LED LCD television to a higher level with QNED, but still has to lose out to OLED on several points. This technique (where pixels can be turned off completely instead of just dimming) is still the best you can get. Black is even blacker and the contrast is unparalleled. However, QNED comes a lot closer to OLED than many other LCD televisions.
5. Excellent value for money
We are not going to say that an LG QNED television is cheap. At the moment you have lost at least a thousand euros and that increases (if you go for a larger size) to more than double the entry price. A hefty investment, but one that is worth it. You get the best viewing experience you can get on an LCD TV, and you even come close to OLED.

Will your next television be an LG QNED?
If you’re looking for a new television, it’s definitely worth considering QNED. When it comes to LCD TVs, it couldn’t be much better. Although OLED is still seen as the superior technology, the gap is no longer that big. In some cases it is even better to go for an LG QNED television, for example if you want the largest color volume or often watch television at extreme brightness.
Whether you should go for QNED or OLED depends on your situation. What we recommend in any case is to take a look at LG. With their high-quality panels, they have dominated the OLED market for years and thanks to QNED they are also among the top when it comes to LCD.
