WhatsApp and Telegram are the two biggest players in chat applications. Although the popularity of the first, with two billion active users per day, is almost incomparable with the second.
Fortunately, this does not apply to the functionalities that come with it. Telegram handles certain things a little better than WhatsApp. In fact, there are features that we hope will appear soon. But which ones are they exactly?
Telegram does this better than WhatsApp
There are a number of functionalities that Telegram users have, which we would also be very happy with on WhatsApp. For example, it is possible to adjust the app entirely to your own liking, but you can also schedule messages in advance.
I have listed five functionalities for you:
#1 WhatsApp messages, but scheduled
WhatsApp messages can be sent throughout the day, but you cannot schedule them. That’s something Telegram has done well. The application makes it possible to type a message, attach a date and time to it and send it automatically. Not only for private conversations, but also for group conversations.
Have you scheduled a message and do you want to make some adjustments? No problem, it is possible. Ideal, if you ask us.

#2 Telegram: share your current screen
Telegram makes it possible to share the screen of your device during a video call. Something that WhatsApp, at the time of writing, cannot yet do. All you have to do is start such a conversation, press the three dots at the top and select ‘sharing screen’.
Very easy when you want to explain or show people something.
#3 Delete messages by date
Sometimes it’s nice to clean up WhatsApp a bit. Call it a digital spring cleaning. You can archive or simply delete messages. It all works fine, but Telegram handles it just a little better.
You can delete messages based on date within the application. For example, if you want to delete all messages you received before April 1, 2022, you select that date and Telegram does the rest. Ideal.

#4 Telegram fully customizable
Telegram is a bit like the Android of chat applications. Within the app it is possible to set many different parts to your own taste. Think of the colors of the icons, speech bubbles and the backgrounds. Telegram also offers consumers to activate themes that are pre-made.
WhatsApp is somewhat more limited in this regard. It is possible to set a background or use a dark mode, but that’s about it.
#5 Two numbers and easy moving
Do you have a new telephone number or do you suddenly work with two numbers (for business purposes)? No problem, Telegram thinks along with you. The application makes it easy to take all your conversations and contacts with you. Within the settings it is possible to move all data to your new number with a simple push of a button.
WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal?
Switching because of functionalities is one thing, but of course you still have to be able to stay in touch with friends and family. WhatsApp is, with two billion active users per day, the most accessible option in that area. So we totally understand if you decide to stay.
If you are looking for an alternative, which one should you have? Is Telegram your best option or should you get started with Signal? We answer that question for you in the article above.
