Appointment? Google Maps tells you exactly what time to leave!

A lot of people use Google Maps to get to their destination. However, few people know that the application can also ensure that you leave home on time.

Google has built in a functionality that not many people know about yet. A pity, because it can ensure that you no longer make a mistake in your departure time.

Never late again with Google Maps

If you are regularly late for an appointment, for example due to traffic jams or simply a mistake in the travel time, Google Maps can make good use of Google Maps. The Google application has built-in functionality that tells you exactly what time you have to leave home. Something that many people, despite years of using the service, still don’t know.

As soon as you plan a trip, it is possible to enter the time of destination. Once you do that, Google Maps will automatically give you a departure time. One that also immediately takes into account the (upcoming) traffic volume. For example, if you want to leave at about four o’clock, the traffic jams that normally arise at that time will be included. You do it like this:

• Open Google Maps
• Enter the destination address at the top
• Select the correct address
• Then press Route
• Press the three dots next to the top address bar
• From the menu, select the option Set departure or arrival time
• Adjust Arrive at enter the correct time and press Finished

Did you do this? Then Google Maps shows, in yellow, the expected travel time. Below that, the application will indicate a departure time. Ideal, if you ask us.

Do not forget!

Do you have an important appointment? Then of course you don’t want to make a mistake about the travel time. In that regard, it’s good to know that Google Maps can also send you a reminder. You do that as follows:

• Open Google Maps
• Enter the destination address
• Select the correct address
• Then press Route
• Press the three dots next to the top address bar
• From the menu, select the option Set departure reminder

If you enter a departure time, Google Maps will actually send you a reminder around that time. Have you entered an arrival time? Then the app keeps an eye on the traffic and lets you know when it is best to leave.
