Philips Hue has proposed a new system that allows you to hang smart lamps on rails on the wall or on the ceiling. You can choose how many and which lamps you use and what position they get on the rails. Finally, there is a new wireless table lamp.
Philips Hue track lighting
You usually see them in a professional environment: lamps that hang exactly in the right place thanks to rails. A spot points to that one antique cabinet, while hanging lamps on the same rails provide the most light. Philips Hue now wants to bring smart lighting on rails to consumers, it says in an online launch event to Androidworld.
Perifo is a new line from Philips Hue that consists of individual rail elements that fit together to form a fully customizable rail. So you choose the layout and length of the rail and which lamps you want to use. The rail can be mounted on the wall or ceiling and plugs into a standard wall outlet or existing wiring using the supplied power supply.
You can combine spotlights, pendant lamps, light bars and light tubes as you wish. Philips Hue comes with starter sets that contain both rails and lamps and you can then expand that rail or provide more lamps. The Perifo track lighting will appear in the Netherlands and Belgium towards the end of the summer.
Table lamp and Tap dial switch
Hue also gets a new table lamp, but this time one that works wirelessly. The Philips Hue Go portable table lamp can display colored light and you can use it both indoors and outdoors. The table lamp can withstand a rain shower and provides 6 to 14 hours of light on one battery charge, depending on the brightness of the light. After that, it has to charge for 3 to 4 hours in its dock that you place somewhere in the house. The Hue Go portable table lamp will also appear at the end of this summer.
To control all smart lamps in the house, there is also a new accessory, the Philips Hue Tap dial switch. It has four buttons and each button can be set to control smart lighting in up to three separate rooms or zones in the home. Tap a button to instantly choose or adjust a light scene. The Tap dial switch also has a dimming control: the faster or slower you turn the knob, the faster or slower your smart lighting dims or brightens. You can use it as a remote control or as a switch on the wall.
Ceiling lamp and sunrise
In addition, Philips Hue has announced a new Xamento ceiling lamp with colored light and the Signe gradient floor and table lamps now have an oak variant. And there is also something new in the software field in the Hue app, which was renewed last year. The Sunrise Awakening style mimics the sun appearing over the horizon with its rich transition from blue to soft orange light. The intention is that you wake up more relaxed this way.
