Google may have made some changes to Google Play that caused developer pages of some apps in the web version to stop working. Androidworld also gives an error. This is what’s going on.
Developer pages in Google Play
Every developer with an app or game in Google Play has a developer page. These are the pages where you can see information about the developer and the apps that this developer has in the app store. For example, Netflix, Spotify and we, Androidworld also have such a page. Just below an app’s name, you’ll find the developer’s name, and clicking this will open the developer page.
Unfortunately, these pages are no longer available in the desktop version of Google Play. They give an error, see the example below. Artem Russakovskii discovered this bug and shared it on Twitter. They are visible in the Google Play app.
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Spotify+AB
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Androidworld.nl
We don’t know exactly how long this problem has existed in the Play Store. Apparently the links with the name of the company don’t work, but the links with a code do. See this one from google and this one named of the company in the url.
It’s a shame that these pages don’t work for many developers. The chance that they will lose income as a result is considerable. Many companies link to their page for an overview of their apps and that page is not working now. In addition, as a user you cannot see which apps or games a developer has in the Play Store. We hope Google fixes this bug soon.

More tweaks (or bugs)
Google has also recently removed the version numbers for apps in the Play Store. It is unknown whether this is a bug or an intentional change. Previously, Google also removed the part Permissions with apps in the Play Store, but reversed this decision after much criticism.
