When you want to download a game or app from the Microsoft Store, you may run into problems. The store won’t open, apps won’t download, pages won’t load… All very annoying, but this isn’t the end of the world.
Before we look at external resources, let’s first look at what we can arrange within or through the Microsoft Store. It may help to log out and log in once in a while. Open the Microsoft Store (if that works, otherwise you can skip this point) and press your profile icon. Then press Sign out.
Now close the Microsoft Store completely via Task Manager. Search under the tab Processes to the digital store and select it with your right mouse button. Now press To end. Open the download store again and log in with your account and try downloading a game or app again. If this still doesn’t work, let’s move on.
Get Microsoft Store up and running
Do you have an antivirus program running in the background? Then you would do well to (temporarily) disable it when you notice that the Microsoft Store no longer downloads or updates apps or games. Disable the program, download or update the game or app and turn the program back on. In the time this happens, there’s not much that can go wrong if you don’t visit untrustworthy or unfamiliar websites or download something that isn’t from the Store.
In addition, there is no harm in restarting the Windows update service. That’s the part within Windows that keeps programs up-to-date. Then the problem is not with the Store or another program, but at this point. How exactly do you restart the update service? To do this, follow the steps below:
- Press Windows Key + R to To carry out to open
- Type in services.msc and press Enter
- In the new window, look for Windows Update
- Press it with you right mouse button on
- Now select the option Properties
- Check below Service status whether the component is on
- If not, press Start
- If so, press Stop and then on Start
- click on To apply and on OK and try to download the content again
Storage options
Finally, we can check the save option. below Settings (Windows key + i) and System do you see the cup Storage stand. Open that option and see how much space is left on the hard drive in your computer or laptop. You may need to choose a different storage source for the Microsoft Store or empty your (possibly only) hard drive by deleting files you don’t need (anymore).
A last resort is to reset the Microsoft Store.
