Google has shown its Pixel Watch at Google I/O in a teaser. So Google’s smartwatch is coming, in the fall of this year, to be exact. Now more details are emerging about the far-reaching Fitbit integration in the new Pixel Watch.
Pixel Watch with Fitbit sauce
Fitbit has been owned by Google since last year. So google the people and know how at home to make your own smartwatch. The Google smartwatch we’ve been waiting for for a long time. Google can also use that knowledge to optimize its own Wear OS operating system for smart watches in terms of the many sports and health functions that Fitbit offers with its wearables.
Thanks to the new branding that Fitbit has been using since the announcement of its latest fitness tracker and smartwatches, far-reaching Fitbit integration now seems very close. The new branding is the clearest sign of the acquisition so far since 2021, while we will be announced in the fall, along with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
Fitbit also dropped a few photos of the Pixel Watch that give us a better idea of the Fitbit integration on Google’s yet-to-be-announced Wear OS smartwatch. The second and third photos are clearly the clock and active minutes we know from the Fitbit interface.
Pixel Watch Specifications
Many new details about the Pixel Watch have already surfaced. For example, Google would use the same sensors – including the heart rate sensor – that are also in the Galaxy Watch 4. In addition, the Pixel Watch is said to run on an Exynos 9110 co-processor and the battery will only last up to one day on a single charge.
The Pixel Watch is rumored to come in a black, gold and gray hue, and it comes with 32GB of storage, which is quite a lot for a smartwatch. Google would also release a wide variety of Pixel Watch bands. Something we know from Fitbit and Apple.
Google will therefore announce this watch this fall. Subsequently, the Pixel Watch will be available in only a few countries. It is not yet known whether the watch will also come to the Netherlands and Belgium.
